Zambeef completes USD 8m stockfeed plant

February 11th, 2010

Zambeef Products Plc has started producing 20,000 metric tonnes of stockfeed a month after completing a USD 8m plant. The plant is situated near former Amanita plant, now Zamanita. The subsidiary of Zambeef Products is operating under a new brand, Novatek.

Zambeef Products spokesperson Justo Kopulande said Novatek began production of stockfeed in February 2010 and is currently selling in eight outlets in Lusaka and some districts. Under the Novatek brand, the company is producing feed for broilers, cattle, horses, layers, pullet rearing and pigs. He said the company is also producing macro packs, which contain vitamins and minerals, and concentrates for producing stockfeed.

“We are also producing concentrates that farmers can buy and produce their own stockfeed at home,” he said. Mr Kopulande said the company is also working on expanding the market for Novatek products, adding that promotions have started on the Copperbelt, where the company intends to establish more outlets. “With Novatek, Zambeef is proudly taking the stockfeed market to a new level and is dedicated to offering exceptional services,” he said.

In 2009, Zambeef Products chief executive officer Carl Irwin told the Daily Mail that the company will invest USD 8m to construct a world class stockfeed plant.
